From 2013-2022 Erena led the Ruapehu Whānau Transformation (RWT) Plan in the Central North Island region of Ruapehu. An iwi-led, community-driven whānau focused plan of action. The plan was nominated multiple times for innovation awards and had five focus areas of Education, Employment, Housing, Health and Social Wellbeing. Erena has spoken all around the world on the methodology of the plan; Stats, Stories, Solutions – robustly analysing data, surfacing deeper insights through qualitative stories from whānau and co-designing solutions by the people, for the people,
Erena will share some of the highlights of the RWT Plan, a transformation framework grounded in te ao Māori, guided by the ancestral mountain of Ruapehu and powered through a collective aroha for people and place.
Erena is founder and CEO of Waihuia Group, a national consulting company and co-founder of software companies Identity Connection Evolution, and Indigenous Data Flow. All businesses contribute to advancing welllbeing and mana motuhake of iwi, hapū and whānau. Amongst serving multiple clients she has an acute focus at the moment on leadng a team of experienced IT engineers from across the Indigenous IT Community to advance the data and digital priorities of iwi through the Data ILG and independant charity Te Kāhui Raraunga.
